Activities at Peony Court Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life by providing regular social and psychological stimulation. The activities can be undertaken in groups or ‘one-to-one’ and are based on individual preferences. We have a varied programme, with the goal of appealing to the interests and capabilities of all residents as best as possible. For example, there's pottery, baking, Scrabble, art classes, exercise sessions and much more. The Activities Coordinators also organise visits from entertainers, local groups, including school choirs, religious services and outings on the minibus.
Paul McKee
Hi! I'm Paul, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Peony Court.
Before I joined the care sector I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flare for bringing smiles to people's faces and this was absolutely the right move for me.
Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals, no one is the same and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely the key!
I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!

Life at Peony Court Care Home
Knit one purl one
We've started a new knitting and crochet group with residents and staff every Thursday, our mission is to create baby hats, mittens and booties to donate to our local premature baby unit... watch this space for progress!
Learning new Skills
It's never too late to learn a new skill or reignite an old passion - that we did with a pottery masterclass. Our creations are currently being fired, we can't wait to get them back and get painting!
Ferragosto!
Auguri di Ferragosto! In English that translates as "Good wishes for Ferragosto". We celebrated the Italian festival with some delicious Italian nibbles and wine and we were entertained by a beautiful opera singer. It really was a wonderful evening!
A Train Spotters Dream Come True!
Resident, Richard has always had a love of steam trains and all things locomotive. We love making dreams a reality so we organised a trip to the Bluebell Railway near East Grinstead.
Bluebell Railway is a mecca of locomotive history with staff in period clothing, working steam engines & signal boxes, not to mention the opportunity to take a step back in time and take in the extensive science and history of the industrial era and its evolution through the years.
Richard tells us his love for trains goes right back to his childhood, he loved seeing various engines pass the back of his garden on the London Brighton Line and particularly enjoyed hearing the heavier freight trains passing by. Richard has an entire collection of folders full of art work he has produced of various trains he has had the pleasure of seeing or travelling on over the years
Richard said he was overwhelmed that the team at Peony Court organised this trip. Richard has been unwell for some time and resigned to the fact that he might not be able to get out and about as much as he’d like so this trip came as a fantastic surprise. “It is such a tremendous feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”
Bingo-ing Fun
Our local Church Hall are currently fundraising for a refurbishment with numerous events and activities so we popped a long for a spot of Drag Bingo with the fabulousness that is "Divine Taylor", a few of us won some funny prizes and we enjoyed a raffle and a few glasses of wine
WImbledon Finals
Residents enjoyed both the Women's and Men's finals this week with Prosecco and Strawberries
