Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.

It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.

Karyn Borngräber

Activities Coordinator

Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

Life at Reigate Beaumont Care Home

Garden Centre Outing

What would we do, oh what would we do? When the weather is cold and miserable outside! We would hop in our minibus and on an outing we would go - singing "What a Jolly Good Fellow You Are John" - for making it so! That is exactly what happened. We had a superb time walking around the Knights Garden Centre in Godstone. We smelled the flowers and chatted about days gone by over a cuppa & cake. On the trip back home we sang to John, for driving us there! A fabulous outing indeed.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day was exactly as it was meant to be! We wanted the day to be filled with music, love and laughter - and that is how we spent the day. A morning filled with music and song performed by the pianist Steve Robbins. A delicious lunch prepared by our brilliant team of Senior Head Chef Roman and 2nd Chef Ese. An afternoon of love and laughter between residents, families, friends and staff. Scrumptious cake and cupcakes with a cuppa. Happy faces and comments of what a lovely afternoon that was! Such a perfect day!

Lottie & Emma

Meet Lottie, our therapy dog! Reigate Beaumont is extremely fortunate to have Lottie and Emma visit with us during the month. Lottie is a gorgeous black Labrador who loves life and loves to be around humans. She has a knack of being very calming and affectionate - she also enjoys a treat or two! Emma also loves catching up with residents and seeing the enjoyment on the residents faces when Lottie walks into the room. Thank you Lottie & Emma! Your visits are a highlight on our calendar!

Knit plain, purl, chat - REPEAT!

Reigate Beaumont's Knit 'n' Natter Club has been in full swing and is growing in members! Family members have been joining in with the group and it is wonderful to hear the stories about how everyone started out knitting. Knitting boosts creativity and can be a very social activity even if you are not knitting yourself. Not only does knitting improve dexterity and hand-eye coordination but it boosts social interaction and brain activity! And of course - who doesn't love a good old natter!

Baby Boppers having a Ball!

Reigate Beaumont residents and staff welcomed Baby Boppers by Bella & Boo into our home for a fun session of baby music and movement class. Meeting mums and their little ones is always heart-warming at any age and being able to interact with the little ones makes every visit a more meaningful one. Sam, the owner of Baby Boppers by Bella & Boo founded the group as a response to the first UK lockdown and now supports over 150 parents with her weekly classes. We are very fortunate to have Sam, her mums and their little ones visit with us. Joy, a resident said: "I could sit for hours just watching the children, it's so therapeutic!" Now that is lovely to hear!

100 Years Young!

Reigate Beaumont celebrated with our lovely resident Annie, on her 100 centenary birthday! Spanning a life time career as a nurse for the NHS, Annie says she never thought she would see the day she turned 100! Our team was thrilled to be able to share in this momentous occasion with Annie. Her family all came to have lunch with her in our Cinema room which was decorated in a colour specifically chosen by Annie – Rose Gold! Our Head Chef Roman prepared a delicious spread of eats for everyone to enjoy. Special thank you to Mayor of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead for coming to wish Annie in the week! Happy 100th Birthday Annie!
