Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Rose Lodge Care Home

Norfolk knitters

The talented knitters at Rose Lodge have been busy knitting hats, jackets and blankets for the newborn babies of their local hospital with the Norfolk knitters.  Residents at Rose Lodge are looking forward to delivering these soon.  Jane Ritchie, activities coordinator said, “It’s been great fun knitting all these items in various colours and sizes for the babies and we can’t wait for our next community knitting project to start.”

Burns night celebrations

Here at Rose Lodge we prepared a traditional Burns Night feast to the tune of bagpipes.  To honour the famous Scottish poet, we hosted a poetry and music session to learn more about the Scottish Country Dancing and the Ceilidh and to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the haggis.

Our tables were specially decorated with flowers and Scottish flags for the occasion as our residents enjoyed delicious Haggis, Neeps and Tatties prepared by our talented chef.  We all had a wonderful time learning more about Robert Burns and the Scottish culture and traditions.

Royal Parks London

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

The Banjo Man

We love our music and live entertainment here at Rose Lodge and residents and colleagues were delighted to welcome back, Sean the ‘Banjo man’. Sean’s up-beat and happy music from over six decades and the rapport with our residents is always a sure way of putting smiles on their faces!  Everyone enjoyed singing and dancing along to his performance and we look forward to his next visit!

Enjoying a trip to our local Farm Shop

Residents of Rose Lodge love their regular trips into the local community.  Today we have enjoyed a trip to our local farm shop to enjoy morning coffee and cake. We were joined by family members and enjoyed a lovely catch up, there was lots of chat and laughter!   Where shall we go next?

Community gifts

Rose Lodge recently visited their community friends at their local Older People’s Day Centre – Oasis Community Centre to deliver festive treats, each gift bag was filled with delicious cookies, mince pies and pens.  During their visit they joined the ladies and gentlemen for a chat and a cup of coffee and shared stories of their Christmas memories.  Residents and colleagues were delighted to spread a little festive cheer!
