Activities at Ross Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ross Court Mark International Women's Day

To mark International Women’s Day, Activities Coordinator Hayley had a great idea – get the ladies of Ross Court talking.  It has occurred to Hayley that Residents spend a lot of time with each other but probably don’t know interesting things about each other.  Residents were sat in twos and each had to find out three things about the other person that they found fascinating, and everyone enjoyed this time so much and we will be definitely doing this again.

Hugo and Maisie Visit Ross Court

Hugo and Maisie, came to visit us at Ross Court again today, the residents first met them at 6 weeks old and they are now 12 weeks and have grown a lot!  They were also a lot more playful and were a delight.   The residents and team are so grateful to Bill's family for bringing them in, it’s great seeing them as they grow up and we very much look forward to their next visit.

Talk and Tasting with Local Vineyard Wythall Estate

Ross Court were delighted to welcome Jamie McIntyre from Wythall Estate and Vineyard in Ross-On-Wye.  Jamie told us about the history of the family run vineyard and all the award winning wines they have produced.  The vineyard benefits from a unique micro-climate and rich Herefordshire soil to produce the highest quality grapes.  Residents had a wonderful afternoon tasting the quality wines enjoyed with a cheese board.  Every wine was to the residents taste, they would thoroughly recommend!

Weston under Penyard School visits Ross Court

The children of Weston Under Penyard CE primary school and nursery visited Ross Court today.

The children came to show the residents, and read to them, their favourite books. Aaron loved Stella and sat on her lap most of the visit drinking and eating chocolate biscuits. He also did a lovely colouring for her, they have become best friends. The photos of them enjoying each other's company just melted all of our hearts.

Getting Crafty

Here at Ross Court, our resident’s got busy making cards. Hayley, the activity coordinator, printed off some shadow figures and the residents enjoyed adding the buttons on to create these beautiful cards. We plan to use our new-found skills to raise some money. We will be discussing selling cards in a summer fate, or giving them to charity. We are not too sure yet, but because we all enjoyed this so much, the residents will definately be making more! Watch this space.

Valentines Day at Ross Court

We celebrated Valentine’s day in style. The tables were set with handmade roses and hearts made by our wonderful ladies, sprinkled with a bit love, along with heart shaped sequins. Bill Ramsden, our resident ambassador, enjoyed his Valentine meal. He enjoyed the heart jam tart and cream too. our lovely lady Margaret Thomas was given a handmade rose from Hayley Rogers, our activity coordinator. Margaret asked Hayley to put it in her hair. The meal was enjoyed with romantic music in the background.
