Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Residents had some fun celebrating Chinese New Year. The home was all decked out in dragons, lanterns, the Chinese flag and other trimmings.

As this was a three day event, we had a fun quiz on the 4th and learned what our birth year animals are. On the 5th, we tried some very nice Chinese food, which everyone enjoyed.

Staff, residents and guests loved the celebrations, especially the live entertainment from Chico on the 3rd, who sang his little heart out for us.

Garden Centre Visit

Garden Centre Visit

On 31st January, some of Rothsay Grange's residents went to Eastleigh’s beautiful garden centre Haskins. We had a look around first at all there beautiful stuff and then we came across the fluffy soft toys and everyone picked their favourite one.

We had a wonderful lunch and, of course, we had a cup of tea and a piece of cake afterwards. We went next door to Hobby Craft and the residents chose their own paint-your-own-money boxes and, on the way home, we were talking about memories we had of snow days.

Dementia Friends

Dementia Friends

It was a real treat when the Mayor & Mayoress wanted to join in one of our Dementia Friends sessions. They thoroughly enjoyed learning more about dementia, and love the idea of a dementia-friendly community.

Afternoon Entertainment

23rd January saw residents baking brownies and cupcakes ready for the afternoon entertainment refreshments. They had great fun beating the eggs and ended up with some very yummy treats.

We were later joined by Dave, who got everyone involved. It was the lovely Edna’s birthday recently, so Dave thought it would be a nice idea to sing to her; she was so thrilled with it all that she even got a little emotional.

As always, the afternoon went by far too quickly and we had to wave goodbye to Dave, but he will be back on 9th May, so please do join us for another fun-filled afternoon.

Open Day

Open Day

On Saturday 19th January, we had our first open day of 2019. Residents made bread in the morning and the afternoon was spent playing scrabble. While we played and the bread was cooking, the aroma made us feel very hungry.

Flower Masterclass

Some residents were treated to a flower masterclass down at the local Wyevale Garden Centre, followed by some afternoon tea.
