Activities at Seaview House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are exercise classes and a walking group, regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including local concerts, as well as weekly visits from a PAT dog, and regular visits from musicians and entertainers, as well as church services which are held twice a month. We also host a weekly social event in which we encourage residents from the whole home to socialise together.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Seaview is fun and active.

Life at Seaview House Care Home
Storm Gerrit
When storm Gerrit hit Wick, all the residents wanted to do was have a Pyjama/movie afternoon as this is their home so they could! We all got our PJs on and grabbed a teddy and met up in the lounge to enjoy some hot chocolate & marshmallows and cream cakes whilst watching their movie choice which was south Pacific! Cosy afternoons at home are the best everyone said!
Medical Detection Dogs
Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.
Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.
We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.
Big Quiz of the Year
All over the country our care homes and hospitals linked up for Barchester’s Big Quiz of the year!
Residents tested their knowledge with a variety of questions, from historical humdingers and musical musings to pictorial puzzlers and connective conundrums.
Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
Wreath Making Masterclass
Local Florist Francis Yellop and 2 off her staff were delighted to attend Seaview for their yearly Christmas Wreath masterclass. Everyone got involved in the making of the wreaths and residents delighted with the end result having never made one before. The gents were also keen to join in with this activity. The wreaths now having pride of place in their rooms.
Christmas Tree switch on
Local Musician Brandon McPhee was delighted being asked to officially turn on Seaview’s Christmas tree lights. The local musician said he had never been asked to do it before and said it was an honour and was then delighted to perform some of his songs and play his accordion. Residents and families enjoyed dancing to the tunes.
Intergenerational visit
Local PEEP baby Group made a return visit to Seaview with Babies aged birth to 12 months. The interactions between the babies and residents were beautiful to see and the residents said you can’t beat a cuddle and a smile from a baby. The group were read stories by leader Louise and then the residents joined in with the songs saying they remembered singing them to their own families.
