Activities at Seaview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are exercise classes and a walking group, regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including local concerts, as well as weekly visits from a PAT dog, and regular visits from musicians and entertainers, as well as church services which are held twice a month. We also host a weekly social event in which we encourage residents from the whole home to socialise together.

Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Seaview is fun and active.

Residents enjoyed 3 days of Coronation Celebrations at Seaview. Family were invited to attend our Tea Party fit for a King and our Street Party Buffet lunch. Everyone had a great time watching the new King being crowned and then eating all the wonderful food prepared by our chef. Residents visit local Memorial

Seaview residents were delighted to pay a visit to a new local memorial – Seafarers Memorial. The new bronze monument is situated at the brae-head in wick and the residents were emotional as it was in memory of all those that had lost their lives at sea around the Caithness coastline. They paid their respects and said it was an outstanding memorial.

60th Anniversary Celebrations

Resident James & his wife Helen celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary within Seaview with a big family get together. A buffet and cake was supplied by the family who had full use of our main lounge. It was quite an emotional party for them will all their kids and grandchildren attending. Then James went home to spend the day with Helen at their house.

Pets at the Palaces

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

Coronation history

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
