Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

We are Sailing....
What glorious weather we had for another fabulous sailing trip with Testwood Lakes Sailability yesterday.
We all had a fabulous afternoon out on the water - a huge thank you to all the volunteers for another wonderful trip. We look forward to returning again next month

A visit to our neighbours...
Yesterday we took a walk to our next door neighbour George Beckett Nurseries to buy some more bedding plants for our borders. We are looking forward to planting them tomorrow at our weekly gardening club.

Creative Art Club
On Thursday we spent a relaxing morning taking part in a nautical themed still life drawing session in our activity room.
We are planning to make the drawing sessions a regular occurrence and will have a different theme each time.

A very special sweet treat....
The residents were treated to a very special dessert this week as Tony one of our residents supplied our chef, John with lots of lovely sticks of Rhubarb from his own garden
John was tasked with producing a delicious home baked Rhubarb and Apple crumble which all the residents loved. The residents will be pleased to hear John will be also be making a Rhubarb Fool which I'm sure will go down a treat now we have some glorious weather!
A big Thank You to Tony

Our Gardening Club were busy again on Friday and this time they rolled up their sleeves to start bringing colour and scent to our 1st floor balcony.
They have made a brilliant start, with a variety of seeds sown & plants potted. We are looking forward to sitting out on the balcony when the weather gets a bit warmer.
