Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Diwali Celebration
Yesterday our residents, families and staff celebrated Diwali in our home !
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff for their dedication and hard work in preparing for our Diwali celebration.
Your efforts not only made the event successful, but your performances and dancing truly brought joy and warmth to the occasion.
We appreciate all that you do to make our home a special place for residents and their families. Thank you for making Diwali unforgettable!
Diwali is a celebration that commemorates many important events for Hindus; it marks the day that the Goddess Durga destroyed the demon named Mahisha and it honours the return of Sita and Rama to Ayodhya (an important pilgrimage site in India) after their exile of 14 years. Happy Diwali to all who celebrate.
Enable go live!
Our new digital system officially went live today! The entire team and our residents joined in the celebration, making it a truly memorable day for everyone.
The whole team smashed it in Go Live!, making it look easy, there has been so much dedication and hard work to get to this point.
To celebrate this special occasion, our Chef baked a lovely cake which was cut by our resident Ambassador, Jean, and our General Manager, Diana.
A special Thanks to all of our Shelburne's Transposing Team and Transposing Support Teams, as without them we would never have hit the target keeping everything on track and everyone focused!
Thank you to all those who helped with admin support, but also the staff members who worked hard to keep the floor covered. Also, a massive thank you to the staff members who kept the focus on the digital system. Without our whole team here at Shelburne Lodge Care Home - Barchester Healthcare could not function the following departments, Nursing, Management, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Maintenance, Care, Admin, Activities and Laundry!
Also special thanks to our Implementer and Clinical Development Nurse who came to support us today and to the others who guided the team through the whole process of transposing.
Big thanks to you all!
A Visit from Performing Pets
We had an extra special visitor at Shelburne Lodge last week! A little pony from Performing Pets brought so much joy and laughter to our residents. It was a heartwarming experience seeing the smiles and excitement all around the home. A big thank you to Performing Pets for making our week so memorable!
Cleaning Up - Rachel Scoops Award Nomination
Since 2021, the Love Laundry Awards have been celebrating the care home laundry heroes whose dedication and hard work contribute to the well-being and safety of residents. The nominations demonstrated the commitment of laundry staff around the country to deliver best-in-class standards, no matter the challenges they face.
Rachel Weatherill is the Head of the housekeeping team at Shelburne Lodge care home. The whole team are working extremely hard to ensure that all of the residents’ clothes are beautifully laundered and pressed, taking such pride in their work. Rachel is a ray of sunshine around the home and is adored by residents and colleagues alike. Rachel and her team make an extra effort to spend time with the residents each day, chatting to them, providing them with magazines and asking them if they need anything. Like a flash, whatever they have been asked to do, it arrives with a smile and a song. Rachel herself comes in early to help them to organise their rooms, the way they would like it and bakes them a special treat on their birthday. They are all already winners to everyone at the home and Rachel is our own treasure after 30 years from carer to kitchen, to laundry to housekeeping at Shelburne Lodge, she has made a magnificent difference in the home.
