Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Cleaning Up - Rachel Scoops Award Nomination
Since 2021, the Love Laundry Awards have been celebrating the care home laundry heroes whose dedication and hard work contribute to the well-being and safety of residents. The nominations demonstrated the commitment of laundry staff around the country to deliver best-in-class standards, no matter the challenges they face.
Rachel Weatherill is the Head of the housekeeping team at Shelburne Lodge care home. The whole team are working extremely hard to ensure that all of the residents’ clothes are beautifully laundered and pressed, taking such pride in their work. Rachel is a ray of sunshine around the home and is adored by residents and colleagues alike. Rachel and her team make an extra effort to spend time with the residents each day, chatting to them, providing them with magazines and asking them if they need anything. Like a flash, whatever they have been asked to do, it arrives with a smile and a song. Rachel herself comes in early to help them to organise their rooms, the way they would like it and bakes them a special treat on their birthday. They are all already winners to everyone at the home and Rachel is our own treasure after 30 years from carer to kitchen, to laundry to housekeeping at Shelburne Lodge, she has made a magnificent difference in the home.

Lots of smiles and cuddles were had this week when these adventurous and playful kittens came to visit us at the home which everyone absolutely adored and loved. Thank you Performing Pets for bringing these fur babies in to see us!

Get Barchester Moving!
For the Get Barchester Moving our staff and residents using any mobility aids to support them went for a health walk amounting to 3000 steps around Amersham memorial garden enjoy the colours, smells and the encouragement from the community as they waved and clapped our residents and staff supporting the ‘ Get moving’ campaign this week.
Both communities memory lane and residential residents took the opportunity to enjoy the sun and the lovely surroundings.
Our lovely couple of 70 + years marriage held hands as they were assisted around the garden remembering those courting days walking around the same gardens followed by afternoon tea together reminiscing those 70 years.

Sports Day Extravaganza!
The excitement was palpable as residents and staff from Shelburne Lodge Care Home and Chorleywood Beaumont gathered on Saturday for a day of fun and friendly competition at the Annual Sports Day !
From engaging wellbeing activities to thrilling games and races, the day was packed with entertainment and camaraderie. Laughter echoed through the halls as we all came together to participate and support each other in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the delicious buffet of hotdogs, burgers, and homemade treats that fuelled our energy and added to the festive atmosphere.
We would like to send Big Thanks to Chorleywood Beaumont Care Community - Barchester Healthcare for the invitation and hospitality on the day and to Mansukh Chander Physiotherapist and Pedro Bras - Physio assistant for organising this event and made it happen !
