Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Carers Week

Shelburne Lodge held a day of celebration to thank care staff at the home who make a real difference to the lives of those they support.

Care staff were treated to an afternoon tea and homemade cakes made by the Head Chef and got to listen to sensory music with some residents.

International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day held on Tuesday 12th May is a to celebrate the nurses around the world. Kath Ford, nurse at the home said, ‘’I came from the nursing background and wonted to provide care for the ones in need, I have been nursing for wonderful 44 years.’’

Janet who lives at Shelburne Lodge said, ‘’Kathy spends so much time and energy looking after us, it’s been lovely to show her how much we appreciate her for doing a smashing job’’.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Staff and residents at Shelburne Lodge took part in Mental Health Awareness Week, enjoying a variety of homemade smoothies and a mixture of fresh fruit. Some residents also took part in some gentle exercises. The week's special moments were shared whilst enjoying some ice cream favourites.

Family Reunions

For some residents at Shelburne Lodge, the long awaited reunion with family and friends became a reality recently, as garden visits have now been allowed to commence at the home.

It was welcome news to so many residents, family, and friends, who were kept apart for so long following strict government guidance. Residents and their loved ones got together in the home garden and very quickly the garden was full of joy and chatter.

VE Day Celebrations

Shelburne Lodge celebrated VE Day with a good old fashioned singalong to the all-time favourite, 'We’ll Meet aAain’, to commemorate 75 years since the end of the Second World War. Residents also celebrated the occasion by tucking into a delicious cream team, and or Head Chef prepared a war-time menu.

A Big Thank You

The printers at Sir Willian Ramsey had their printers working 24 hours a day to help and support the local community.

The staff were overwhelmed by the generosity and thoughtfulness from all concerned in supplying and delivering these valuable items to the home.
