Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Family Reunions

For some residents at Shelburne Lodge, the long awaited reunion with family and friends became a reality recently, as garden visits have now been allowed to commence at the home.

It was welcome news to so many residents, family, and friends, who were kept apart for so long following strict government guidance. Residents and their loved ones got together in the home garden and very quickly the garden was full of joy and chatter.

VE Day Celebrations

Shelburne Lodge celebrated VE Day with a good old fashioned singalong to the all-time favourite, 'We’ll Meet aAain’, to commemorate 75 years since the end of the Second World War. Residents also celebrated the occasion by tucking into a delicious cream team, and or Head Chef prepared a war-time menu.

A Big Thank You

The printers at Sir Willian Ramsey had their printers working 24 hours a day to help and support the local community.

The staff were overwhelmed by the generosity and thoughtfulness from all concerned in supplying and delivering these valuable items to the home.

Social Distancing Tea

Residents and staff of Shelburne Lodge celebrated the 5th anniversary of National Tea Day and the Queen’s Birthday. Everyone enjoyed a variety of teas, cakes and biscuits. It brought a cheer throughout the home at this unprecedented time.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Residents at Shelburne Lodge elected to make this rainbow to show their gratitude to the NHS staff. Resident, Dorothy, said it was great taking part in this activity and being able to show our thanks and support to all the wonderful NHS staff and keyworkers.

Keeping in Touch

Due to the current situation and not being able to have visitors here at Shelburne Lodge, residents have been able to keep in touch with their loved ones Over Skype and by writing letters. The residents also received some lovely cards from the children at the church of England Primary School, and have replied with homemade thank you cards. Residents are also involved in the local pen pal scheme, which is beneficial to local school children and themselves at this difficult time.
