Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Southerndown Care Home

Halloween Fancy Dress Dog show
We held a spooktactular fancy dress dog show!
Family and staff were encouraged to bring in their fabulous pooches in Halloween fancy dress for the residents to judge who was the best dressed.
We could not decide as they all looked amazing – so everyone won a prize.
The dogs were a big hit at our home and we cant wait to see them again.

Adderbury Ukes
Southerndown residents staff and visitors had a delightful half term visit from the Adderbury Ukes.
These talented musicians arrived with their ukuleles and songbook, showcasing the small but might ukulele.
We had such a wonderful afternoon and we are already looking forward to their next visit

10k Charity walk
Southerndown staff Graeme, Martin, Jeswin, Sasha, Julie, Merisha and Stacey have completed their 10k Charity walk in aid of Chippy Larder.
The event showcased the homes dedication to making a positive impact beyond its premises. The staff strolled through the scenic streets of Chipping Norton, while raising funds for such an amazing cause.
On return to the home staff were welcomed back and congratulated by our amazing residents.
Congratulations team Southerndown.

Chippy Mop
Southerndown visited Chippy mop.
Our first stop was at the rifle range, which we were pot shots at! Then we tried our hand at hook a duck, next stop was the frogs – not as easy as it looked!
We had a lovely walk around the fair watching all of the rides, then we thought a cup of tea and cake at the local café would be to finish our day.
Then back home for a well earned rest.

Pub Lunch
Residents at Southerndown had a delightful outing as we visited one of our local pubs for a hearty lunch and a pint or two.
The food was delicious and we are already planning where we would like to visit for our next pub lunch.

A Visit to the Old Shed
We visited the Old Shed in Charlbury for one of our recent trips out. The weather was perfect, we spent time with the Shetland ponies and the donkeys.
We enjoyed the woodland walk, and we made good use of the exercise equipment.
To finish the morning we had a lovely cup of tea and some delicious cake before heading back home.
