Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Southerndown Care Home

Southerndown Sports day 2023
Southerndown held their very own sports day at our home with all our family and friends were invited. This event was eagerly anticipated as we had been preparing by, walking more and practising some of the events before hand. The weather was perfect, we had a healthy snack buffet and plenty of hydration. Go Team Southerndown!!!!!
For our races the first one of the day was the egg and spoon race, which had been bringing back memories of our early childhood and participating in the egg and spoon races at school. It was a cracking success. Next up was the bean bag race, which was very competitive and never as easy as it seems Our next activity was the ring toss, (which we had been practising) this was a tricky mix of skill and luck And for the grand finale, which the crowd went wild was staff v staff tug of war – joined by residents and relatives which was a big success. After our races were finished, everyone received their medals and the visiting children received their goody bags . The day was a big success and we all had such a wonderful time, it was a huge talking point for the residents for many days after.

Al fresco dining
Making the most of any good weather, we decided to have some al fresco dining in our sensory garden.
The food was amazing and the drinks were flowing , what a beautiful way to spend an afternoon with friends.
