Activities at Spen Court Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Angela Blackburn
My name is Angela and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Spen Court. I get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness.
We feel it is important to build community connections and maintain our resident’s social interaction outside the care home.
We ensure we deliver a person-centered program of events and activities and build strong relationships with our residents, their families and friends.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Spen Court Care Home
Aqua Painting
The residents enjoy the craft sessions of Aqua Painting.
Aquapaints give a lovely balance of creative touch, a sense of achievement and joy for people living with dementia.
Simply brush the pictures with water and watch the colours appear.
This activity is both good fun and therapeutic.
Bowling Club
Spen Court enjoying a warm up session ready for the Bowling Club.
Many residents enjoy the bowling as it used to be a part of their social life before moving into the home.
It’s a great way to have fun, keep up muscle strength and to also be social, although things to get a little competitive in a fun manner.
Harvest Festival
Spen Court celebrated Autumn with a Harvest Festival Service provided by our very own residents.
Jean Gilgrass and Molly Lund provided fellow residents, family and friends with a service of several readings, hymns and prayers.
The home did a collection of foods to be donated to a local foodbank.
The wonderful team members, families and friends of residents have come together to make a very much needed donation into the local community.
Supporting local groups in our community is important to us as we like to make links and friends with local businesses.
