Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Our Coffee Morning

Our Coffee Morning

During our usual coffee morning, we decided to have a bit of a change and held a quiz. This went down quite well and residents really enjoyed taking part. We also enjoyed cakes and coffee, which were provided by our kitchen staff.

Our Thank You Letter from the Queen

Our Thank You Letter from the Queen

We were very lucky to receive a thank you card and letter from the Queen. In the letter, Her Majesty had put that she loved the cards that we made for her birthday and that she had enjoyed the occasion very much.

Pictured is Margaret, who became a centenarian in 2016, with the thank you letter and card.

Our Summer Fair

Our Summer Fair

We held our Summer Fair here at Stamford Bridge. We had a fabulous day with lots of stalls, refreshments and plenty of entertainment. Our lovely Chef, Dawn, provided cakes for us to sell and we also had our own tombola stall. We had lots of support from our local community and resident's families - and the weather was beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who helped and who made it a memorable day; we raised over £200 and it was a great success.

Our Singer at the Beaumont

Our Singer at the Beaumont

We had a fabulous visit from singer, Ruth Strangeway, recently. Ruth really entertains the residents and they love to sing along with her. A relative commented how lovely it was to see her mum sing the words to some very memorable songs (this lady doesn’t speak very much but she sang to nearly every song). It was such a beautiful thing to see a mother and daughter sharing such a special moment.

Our Visit to the Junior School

Our Visit to the Junior School

We were very lucky to get an invite to our local junior school to watch a performance of Peter Pan. Years 5 & 6 played all the parts and did a fantastic job; it was performed wonderfully by all of them and was really great to watch. Stamford Bridge would like to say a massive thank you to the juniors and teachers for inviting us to watch their brilliant show.
