Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Our Homemade Cards for the Queen

Our Homemade Cards for the Queen

The 21st April is Her Majesty the Queen's 90th birthday, so we decided it would be a nice idea to make some birthday cards for her. A few of our residents sat around the table and made 3 beautiful cards to send to the Queen. We really hope the Queen likes them and would like to wish her a very happy 90th birthday from us all.

The Archbishop of York Comes to Coffee

The Archbishop of York Comes to Coffee

All of us at the Beaumont were very excited to find out that the Archbishop of York was coming to our coffee morning. On his arrival the residents were very excited to meet him, and he spent lots of time with each resident and staff member talking to them and finding out about us all. The Bishop of Selby accompanied him as well, and he also spent time chatting to everyone. This visit was very important to us all and we cherished every moment of it.

Music by Matt Jones

Music by Matt Jones

Last week the lovely Matt Jones came to sing here at the Beaumont. He comes from Scarborough, so isn’t far from our home. He has a great voice and gets the residents involved with playing musical instruments. We all really enjoyed his visit and will look forward to his return.

Our Monthly Coffee Morning

Our Monthly Coffee Morning

This month we enjoyed our coffee morning. We had a lovely catch up with our residents, who got the chance to share stories and memories with each other. There was lots of chat and banter going on between them and we had lovely treats and refreshments that were prepared by our kitchen staff.

Easter Sunday Service

To finish our Easter celebrations we had an Easter Sunday celebration service which was taken by Bryan Lawson, who comes in to lead spiritual activities we have in the home.
