Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.
Michael Lythgoe
I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition
I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.
I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
Our Arts & Crafts Sessions
This week we have been very busy making pom-poms at our arts and crafts sessions. The residents gave us some ideas about what they would like to make and a few of the ladies chose to make pom-poms. This was a really good idea, as it's very good exercise for the hands and it is very relaxing at the same time. We managed to finish a few pom-poms and they are now displayed on the mantle piece in the residential community lounge.
Celebrating Margaret's 100th Birthday
Last Sunday, we had a fabulous day; we had a lovely lady in our home who celebrated her 100th birthday. Margaret received lots of lovely cards, flowers and gifts to help her enjoy her special day. Her room was decorated with banners and balloons and looked fabulous. Margaret received a beautiful card from her Majesty the Queen - she is very proud of it and has been showing it to us all.

Methodist Coffee Morning
It was a beautiful sunny morning, so we decided to take a walk over to our local Methodist church hall. They were holding their monthly coffee morning. We always like to try and support our village events. We are always made very welcome and enjoy having a cuppa and chat with our local community.

Queen's Birthday Celebrations at Stamford Bridge
We had a lovely day celebrating our Queen's 90th birthday. Earlier on in the week, we made cards to send to Her Majesty, and decorated our lounge with birthday banners and fabulous pictures of our Queen from her past to present day. We had Union Jack cakes made by our kitchen, and Brian came in to give a talk about our lovely Queen's life. We all sang a few songs and finished with the National Anthem.
Zoo Lab at Stamford Bridge
We had a lovely visit from Zoo Lab last week. The ranger who came in was called Hannah; she was very knowledgeable about the animals and told us some very interesting facts about them. Hannah brought in a tarantula called Rosie, a rabbit called Walter, a snake called Suci, two snails called Shelly and Turbo, a cockroach called Ron, a millipede called Millie and two rats called Mel and Sue. We had a fabulous visit and residents were very brave and held most of the animals. Thank you to Zoo Lab for your lovely visit.
Chairobics at the Beaumont
This week was Mark's visit to our home. Mark helps residents with some light exercise. They really enjoy him coming and look forward to his visits. Mark always uses music and the residents really get into the exercises that he shows them.
