Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Mexican Fiesta

Residents and staff members had a ‘De Pelos’ day celebrating Mexican Independence Day. Residents took to their armchairs exploring the beautiful country, heightening the virtual experience with inspired Mexican scents. Fun was had by everyone sharing interesting facts of the country taking part in a themed quiz, playing pin the tail and listening to traditional Mexican music .

Amigos came together to enjoy a Mexican themed feast, created by Head Chef, Dave Thompson. Dishes of paprika pork, pepper chicken fajitas or chilli-con-carne were thoroughly enjoyed taking taste buds to the country too.

Alzheimer's Society Fundraiser

Activities Coordinators, Carly Chesney and Sharna Thompson from Station Court Care Home have successfully completed the charity cycle challenge on world Alzheimer’s Day Pushing the pedals 50 mile to raise funds for the care home’s chosen charity of the month – The Alzheimer’s Society.

Residents, family and friends had a fantastic  time battling through the rounds of famous faces, name that tune and 50s-90s trivia themed around the decades at the care home’s charity quiz night. Taking everyone on a nostalgic trip down memory lane whilst sipping on cocktails and tucking into snack platters.

Station Court has raised a total of £324 as yet, which has been donated directly to the Alzheimer’s Society and will help those living with dementia today and help fund ground-breaking research for tomorrow.
