Activities at Station Court Care Home
Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.
Carly Chesney
Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator. I joined the home in 2011. I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Life at Station Court Care Home
Home host Garden Party for local charity
Staff, residents and family members at Station Court have hosted events throughout June to raise money for SSAFA Northumberland – Armed forces charity.
Residents, family members and visitors came together for a picnic party event enjoying live entertainment from the brilliant Mark McCann, sweet and savoury picnic delights and sunshine in the home’s gardens linking with D-Day 80.
Exploring the Eden Project
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories. A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.
Summer Party
A spectacular day was had by all at Station Court as residents, staff, family and friends came together to mark the official start of summer at the homes garden party event.
With the Great British weather on their side and summer refreshments of ice creams and cool drinks guests were entertained by the brilliant Michaela from Musical Memories performing songs through the years to have everyone singing along, jiving and doing the twist … the best way to spend the longest day of the year!
Father’s Day Celebrations
Gentlemen at Station Court were joined by family members to celebrate father’s day together. They were treated to a live entertainment swinging 60s and 70s show by local young vocalist and guitarist, having everyone singing along and dancing to their favourite hits. Before tucking into a delicious 3 course Sunday roast, prepared by the homes head chef, Washed down with beers, ales and their favourite tipple and chocolate gifts all fathers and grandfathers in the home.
D-Day 80
Station Court’s garden was full of fun, laughter and music as residents, staff members, family and friends came together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day at the homes picnic party event.
A brilliant day was had by all with live entertainment from amazing local artist, Mark McCaan performing rock N roll hits and wartime classics having everyone singing along and dancing before everyone tucked into picnic baskets filled with sweet and savoury treats.
The event raised funds for Station Court care home charity of the month: SSAFA Northumberland – Armed Forces Charity.
Charity Walk
Residents, staff and family members have taken part in a sponsored walk and wheel throughout the town to raise money for local charity Mind Active.
Staff and residents at the home dressed a little silly and embarked on a memory walk and wheel through Ashington town. Reminiscing along the way bringing back many fond memories of times spent at the likes of the Arcade, The Grand Hotel and the bowling greens. The home also held a bake sale and community coffee morning to help raise more funds for this very important cause.
