Activities at Sycamore Grove Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Lynette Allen

Activities lead and Speak up Champion

I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.

The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their wellbeing currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Exercise keeps us at our best

We enjoyed a fun and energetic exercise class today, led by our wonderful Lynette. We regularly do these classes to help keep our residents active and healthy, and it's always a great way to get some exercise and socialize with our friends.

If you're looking for a way to stay active and healthy in your later years, an exercise class like the one we offer at Sycamore Grove Care Home is a great option. We'd love to have you join us!

Sycamore Grove Care Home had a day out at Hilliers garden center!

We visited the shops and had a look at all the beautiful plants. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch in the cafe. It was a great opportunity for our residents to get some fresh air and enjoy some social interaction.

We would like to thank Hilliers Garden Centre for their warm welcome and for making our day so special. We would also like to thank our staff for organizing the trip. It was a great success!

National Chocolate Day

We celebrated National Chocolate Day at Sycamore Grove Care Home by tempering and moulding our own chocolates for dessert. The residents had a lot of fun getting creative with different shapes and flavours. We even had a few resident experts who shared their tips and tricks for making the perfect chocolate.

It was a great way to spend the day and everyone enjoyed the delicious results. We hope you had a sweet National Chocolate Day too!

Laurence and Emma Visit AgeConcern Eastbourne at the Venton Centre to meet Liz

Laurence and Emma, our Home Service advisor and deputy manager, visited Age Concern's Venton centre today to see how we can help elderly people in our community. We offered them to pop by for cake and coffee whenever they wanted, and spoke about our free gardening club on Wednesdays from 2-4pm starting on July 12th.

We were really impressed with the work that Age Concern is doing, and we're excited to partner with them to make a difference in the lives of elderly people in our community. We believe that everyone deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life, regardless of their age, and we're committed to doing our part to make that happen.
