Activities at Sycamore Grove Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Lynette Allen
I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.
The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their wellbeing currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.
I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Life at Sycamore Grove Care Home
Bingo in the Bistro
We had a great night at Sycamore Grove Bingo, thank you to Tom knix (6)for playing along. Kellys eye(1) was on the ball, as was Maggies in her Den (10). Fun was had by all!
Trip to Beachy Head for ice cream
We had a wonderful time taking a trip out to Beach Head today for ice creams in the mini bus. The weather was perfect, and the residents enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.
After their ice creams, the residents returned to the care home and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the garden. They then spent the afternoon relaxing and enjoying each other's company.
It was a great day out for all of the residents, and they are already looking forward to their next trip!
Summer Days in the Garden
We are loving the summer weather! They have been spending their days in the garden, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
On Friday, the residents enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea in the garden. They ate delicious sandwiches, cakes, and scones, and they chatted and laughed with each other.
On Saturday, the residents played a variety of games in the garden. They had a lot of fun and got some exercise at the same time.
On Sunday, the residents just relaxed in the garden. They read books, listened to music, and enjoyed the sunshine. They all agreed that it was a perfect way to spend a summer day.
We are so glad that our residents are able to enjoy the garden so much. It is a great place for them to socialize, get some exercise, and just relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Our visit AgeConcern Eastbourne at the Venton Centre
Laurence and Emma Visit AgeConcern Eastbourne at the Venton Centre to meet Liz
Laurence and Emma, our Home Service advisor and deputy manager, visited Age Concern's Venton centre today to see how we can help elderly people in our community. We offered them to pop by for cake and coffee whenever they wanted, and spoke about our free gardening club on Wednesdays from 2-4pm starting on July 12th.
We were really impressed with the work that Age Concern is doing, and we're excited to partner with them to make a difference in the lives of elderly people in our community. We believe that everyone deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life, regardless of their age, and we're committed to doing our part to make that happen.
If you're interested in learning more about how you can help, please visit Age Concern's website or give them a call. We hope to see you at our free gardening club on July 12th!
