Activities at Sycamore Grove Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Lynette Allen

Activities lead and Speak up Champion

I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.

The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their wellbeing currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Birthday Bash for the Ages at Sycamore Grove!

Sycamore Grove turned one today, and we threw a party to remember! The atmosphere was brilliant with a fantastic turnout from the community, residents, families, and friends, we even had Dan Dunbar (Mayor of Polegate) in attendance! Talented pianist Zlata filled the air with joyful music, while our incredible kitchen team wowed everyone with a mouthwatering BBQ and buffet.

But the most heartwarming moment came from our very own resident, Ron Jolley. He penned a beautiful poem especially for our birthday, capturing the essence of Sycamore Grove.

Smiles were everywhere as we celebrated, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Here's to many more happy years at Sycamore Grove!

It's party time at Sycamore Grove!

We're kicking off a weekend of birthday celebrations with a delightful visit from our friends at Bluebell Barn Nursery!

The little ones brought sunshine and smiles as they sang happy birthday, played games, and showered our residents with wonderful gifts. We especially loved the beautiful planter and the giant cookie – yum!

This is the perfect way to start a fun-filled birthday weekend for our residents.

Huge congratulations to our amazing kitchen team!

They've aced their recent food safety and hygiene inspection, receiving a top score of 5 from Eastbourne Borough Council!

This fantastic achievement reflects their dedication to providing our residents with delicious and safe meals every day. We're so proud!

Welcome Our New Resident Ambassadors

We're delighted to introduce our two amazing new Resident Ambassadors, Barbara Pope and Arnold Beck!

Barbara is a ray of sunshine with a kind heart and an awesome sense of humour. Arnold's a true gentleman who loves sharing stories of his life's adventures. Both Barbara and Arnold are passionate about making Sycamore Grove a welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.

As Resident Ambassadors, Barbara and Arnold will be the friendly faces greeting new residents, helping them settle in and feel right at home. They'll also be the voice of the residents, advocating for their needs and interests, and planning fun activities and events for everyone to enjoy.
