Activities at Sycamore Grove Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Lynette Allen

Activities Co-ordinator

I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.

The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their wellbeing currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Shaken, Not Stirred! (But Also Stirred!)

The atmosphere was sophisticated, the conversation lively, and the cocktails? Absolutely delightful!

We enjoyed at Sycamore Grove a delightful Cocktail Evening, complete with expertly crafted drinks, delicious nibbles, and plenty of laughter.

From classic Martinis to refreshing Mojitos, our residents had a fantastic time sipping on their favourites and reminiscing about glamorous evenings spent out.

A big thank you to our amazing staff for creating such a special event! It was a night to remember.

Sunshine, Sea Views, and Smiles on Eastbourne Seafront!

Our residents at Sycamore Grove soaked up the glorious sunshine today with a delightful afternoon out at a cafe on the Eastbourne seafront!

With the sparkling ocean as their backdrop, they enjoyed delicious treats and refreshing drinks, all while basking in the warm weather and the refreshing sea breeze. The sound of waves gently lapping against the shore and the lively atmosphere created a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.

elebrating 200 years of Cadbury

Barchester teamed up with Cadbury and the Alzheimers Society to deliver an afternoon of reminiscence, fun and of course chocolate.

Our residents got to see how Cadburys packaging has changed over the years and reminisce about the ones they remember while learning all sorts of interesting facts all about Cadbury and ate chocolate until their hearts were content

A wonderful afternoon had by all

Sweet Treats & Big Hearts at DGH! Laurence, Julie, Nicola, Manal and Leanne they spent time this week supporting the team at DGH during Dementia Action Week.

Manning the cake stall, they brought smiles and delicious treats, all while raising vital funds for the hospital's fantastic dementia services. We even added a special donation of doughnuts to the table, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy!

Their efforts helped spread awareness and make a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia. Come down and buy some cakes and plants and support dementia services at the Hospital.
