Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our Classic Car Show!
Today isn't just special because it's Children in Need. It's also International Men's Day!
What a treat we had for it too! Retford & Gainsborough Motor Club came to visit us with some truly fantastic vehicles! We were honoured to be able to have a look around them, learn more and share our memories during the truly spectacular afternoon with the kind members of the club
One of our residents, Joe, was quite the expert on the vehicles and had many lovely memories to share. Joe said he's "had the best afternoon in a very long time" and he enjoyed chatting with staff and other residents about the cars with such passion. Joe is looking forward to sharing pictures of the event with his family tomorrow
Thank you so much Retford & Gainsborough Motor Club!
Our Local Pub, Woodcocks Christmas Light switch on!
Residents and staff were pleased to be invited to attend the light switch on at Woodcocks yesterday evening.
It was a truly wonderful evening listening and singing along to the Salvation Army band whilst we enjoyed delicious foods and drinks served by the lovely Woodcocks staff. We had the perfect evening to get us into the Christmas spirit
Thank you so much to The woodcocks team for the kind invite and for making us feel so welcome in our fantastic community. We feel so grateful to have such caring and considerate neighbours like them
No-one does Birthdays like us!
Everyone joined together to make sure our lovely resident, Joyce had the best birthday last week
The lovely and talented Zoe from The Alice Aesthetic: A Cruelty-free, Natural, Beauty Wonderland came along to get Joyce feeling a million dollars. Joyce has already booked a slot with Zoe for our Christmas pamper session
Residents and staff took part in an afternoon quiz and happy hour before singing happy birthday to Joyce and tucking in to the delicious birthday cake
Our Remembrance Sunday
TENNYSON WHARF RESIDENTS HONOUR THE FALLEN ON REMEMBRANCE DAY
Tennyson Wharf in Lincoln commemorated Remembrance Day on Sunday 14 November. They joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.
As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service from The Cenotaph, residents spent the coming weeks making handknitted poppies, reminiscing and singing all of the favourite war songs.
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
Activity Coordinator, Zoe Sheridon terrified of heights completes Skydive!
WOW! What an amazing achievement, Zoe Sheridon completed her skydive on Sunday 7th November.
A HUGE thank you to everyone that has sponsored! This was not an easy challenge for Zoe because she is petrified of heights but helping others is something she is so passionate about which gave her the courage she needed.
So many people need the crucial mental health support that Mind provide, especially with the effects of the pandemic. The funds raised by Zoe's skydive will allow more people to receive that important help and support.
Residents and staff are looking forward to gathering together in the week to watch the video from the skydive!
