Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Tennyson treats Newton Trent Primary School to a hamper for National Colouring Book day!
Tennyson Wharf treated Newton Trent Primary School to a fantastic hamper full of colouring books, pens and other supplies for the school children ready for their school holidays!
Activities Coordinator, Zoe Sheridon said 'It was great to be able to pop over to see the children at Newton-on-Trent C of E Primary School earlier this week'.
National colouring book day is August 2nd and we wanted the children to be able to join in the fun that day.
The children are planning on colouring us some pictures sending them to us so we are excited to see them!
Celebrating French Day!
Tennyson Wharf celebrated French Day yesterday. Everyone dressed up and Zoe, our amazing Activities Coordinator arranged some fantastic activities for our residents and staff to get involved in.
In the morning we had a French quiz followed by 'Bat the Garlic' with a French baguette and then our fabulous kitchen provided us with some mouth watering French themed food and we ended the day with an Eiffel Tower making competition and then Zoe finished the day with a Mime to be guessed by our residents!
Overall today was a brilliant day at Tennyson!
To find out more about joining in the fun with our residents and staff please get in touch today on 01522 844507.
Fresh Delivery just in time for our Fresh Smoothie Day!
We were so thankful for the kind donation of fresh fruit and vegetables that we received from Nathan Willows Fresh Produce Home Deliveries yesterday.
Yesterday was National Smoothie day and with the generosity from Nathan, we celebrated that by making our own smoothies full of goodness.
The fruit was wonderfully fresh and delicious and gave us the energy we needed for our seated yoga session as it was also International Yoga Day yesterday!
This charming shop is a family business that is full to the brim with the freshest and tastiest fruit and vegetables. Ideally situated and even has delivery options available!
We feel lucky to have such supportive businesses local to us.
Thank you so much Nathan Willows Fresh Produce

104 year old resident challenges and beats our General Manager!
Norah Shaw who resides at Tennyson Wharf care home on the stunning Burton Waters marina. Norah who celebrates her 105th in August challenged our General Manager to a table tennis match as the home were celebrating Wimbledon. The residents and staff enjoyed strawberries and cream whilst watching Wimbledon and playing table tennis.
Our General Manager Zoe King said ‘I couldn’t believe how hard Norah made me work, considering she is 104 I couldn’t believe I came away sweating! We are planning a big party to celebrate Norah’s big birthday, she is such a wonderful resident. She enjoys joining in with all of our activities our team puts on here and recently thanked all of our staff for their hard work in our resident meeting’.
