Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Valentine's Tea Dance
Tennyson Wharf recently held a tea dance n our café area for all our residents and families in recognition of Valentine's Day. Residents sat at the tables to enjoy a cream tea while listening and watching Chrissy, one of our resident singers.
Man's Best Friend
Tennyson Wharf now has a fortnightly visit from Lottie, the PAT dog, and her owner, Joanne. As you can see, residents absolutely loved giving her cuddles and treats. Lottie visits our home every other Wednesday, and everyone very much looks forward to seeing her.
Pet Therapy
Amelia brought in lovely animals for residents to make a fuss over, including a rabbit, a dog, a guinea pig, a gecko, a hedgehog and a parrot. Amelia took her pets around our home to share with the those who are less mobile. The smiles on their faces spoke volumes.
The Collection
Residents visited ‘The Collection’ at the Usher Art Gallery in Lincoln, and thoroughly enjoyed their time there. They met some very unusual people, to their amusement
Christmas Cake Competition
It is that time of year – the Barchester Christmas Cake competition – and our residents relished the challenge, designing, making and decorating our very own Tennyson Wharf Christmas Cake. Our residents baked individual fairy cakes, icing and decorating them with edible adornments and edible glitter, and attached them to a large cone in the shape of a Christmas tree. Cherries, as red berries, completed the traditional Christmas tree look! The design meant lots of residents could get involved, and the cake evoked happy memories and shared discussions of Christmas past and trees at home with families and friends.
Christmas Market
Tennyson Wharf hosted their very own ‘Christmas Market’ for residents, family, friends and the local community all to enjoy, and we raised a massive £296 towards our residents funds too. With over 17 stalls of festive treats and fun, and Santa paying a wonderful surprise visit in the Tennyson Wharf Santa’s grotto, young or old - smiles and laughter were the order of the day!
