Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Our Lindy Bop Afternoon!

This week our resident decided to have lunch in Tewkesbury town and then try out or watch, some Lindy Bop dancing! Cate Cody, Councillor (Tewkesbury North Ward), Borough Councillor, County Councillor (pictured with our team), was at Tewkesbury’s Watson Hall’s Warm hub initiative showing people how it’s done! We can’t wait to go to the next Lindy Bop dance on 28 February.

Tewkesbury Fields are supporting Tewkesbury Council’s Warm spaces initiative. We are offering our time and putting on events at these warm hubs, so please do come and join us.

Afternoon Tea with Northway Parish

Northway Parish Council visited us this week to meet both our residents and General Manager James Culley over tea and cake.  Cllrs Sandra Terry, Pauline Godwin and Gina Shelton were very impressed with our home and even joined in with the afternoon quiz with the residents!  Thank you for coming to see us, and we look forward to joining in with their Parish events soon.

Our Big Garden Birdwatch

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Tewkesbury Fields care home in Tewkesbury got out their binoculars and bird books to support this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch initiative.

Our resident Ambassador Vivian had a brilliant time with our team, and filled up her birdfeeder to attract the birds.  She started looking up the different species in her bird book to make sure they were logged correctly, and we saw many different birds that day.

The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch is an annual event to try to understand what is happening to our native birds. The idea is to log all the birds you see in your garden, from your window or in your local park in a one hour period any time between January 27th and 29th.

Delicious Dining Delights

Delicious delights await our residents each day at mealtimes, and we thought you would like to see examples of our Masterchef Jacque’s dishes.  Pictured here is a starter (that’s right a starter dish!) of pan fried giant prawns under roasted tomatoes surrounded by a balsamic glaze and leaves.  The heavenly dessert is a white and dark chocolate french tart sat on a melon slice and served with a small pot of ice cream - not shown as we didn’t want to make you too jealous!
