Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home
Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home
Virtual tour of Cliveden
We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.
The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.
Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.
The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
Birthday celebrations
We had the pleasure of celebrating a lovely ladies birthday today. The chef had prepared a beautiful Victoria Sponge Cake filled with cream and jam topped off with cherries and whipped cream. We all sang “Happy Birthday” and enjoyed watching the annual unwrapping and opening of the cards. It was a lovely morning and we all enjoyed a piece of cake with a cup of tea
Pancake Day
At Threshfield Court Care Centre we never miss an opportunity to have fun as we enjoyed celebrating Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday. A selection of toppings were offered with our Sweet Pancakes which were delicious. One pancake is never enough! We took the opportunity to remind ourselves about the history of Pancake Day and how it fits in with Christian Calendar leading up to Easter. We had a discussion about “Pancakes from around the World” and also learnt some fun facts
National Hot Chocolate Day
Today at Threshfield Court Care Centre we celebrated National Hot Chocolate Day. The day proved extremely popular as we offered residents a choice of flavoured drinks with the optional marshmallow topping. The winner was the “Options Belgian Choc mint”. In the afternoon, we learnt about the history of chocolate and also enjoyed an art project with a chocolate themed word search. There was a bit of everything today for all!
NESCAFE virtual tour
We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.
We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.
To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.
Keeping fit with Oomph
It may be wet and stormy outside, but at Threshfield Court Care Centre today we were dancing the February blues away. We were using a combination of an Abba CD with musical instruments and also a more structured ”Oomph on Demand Exercise Class” with a qualified instructor. Both classes involve positive music and movement which uplifts our moods when the sky looks dark and stormy. As always, we had a lovely cup of Yorkshire tea and a piece of home make cake.
