Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home
Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home
Daffodils
The sun was shining at Threshfield Court Care Centre today. Our residents decided on an Arts and Crafts activity which involved, cutting, painting, glue and string. The result was a lovely string of Daffodil Bunting. It was a lovely morning where we listened to an “Enya” CD playing in the background with the sun shining through the windows. As always, we had a cup of tea or coffee with a piece of homemade cake,
Heavenly cookery demo
We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration. Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.
Jam jars, ribbons and flowers!
At Threshfield Court Care Centre we involve our residents in a lot of activities that require advance planning. We encourage hands on from washing our jam jars out with bicarbonate of soda, to choosing the coloured ribbons to go around the jars. It is a lovely activity that encourages lovely conversation. And, it’s all for Mother’s Day
National Storytelling
At Threshfield Court Care Centre we aim to celebrate a few National Days which we feel are important to our residents.
It was National Story Telling and National Wetland Day. We spent the morning in one area, listening to a waterfall and bird CD whilst looking at Photographic Books based around Yorkshire. The old stories are always the best.
In another area of our home, our residents were delighted to watch a David Attenborough Planet Earth Documentary all about Wetlands. It was fascinating program and really enjoyable for our residents.
Obviously, both activities were enjoyed with a cup of Yorkshire Tea and a biscuit
National Nestbox Week
We were excited to take part in this year’s National Nestbox week – an initiative making more homes for Britain’s birds since 1997.
Our residents had fun making and learning how to decorate nest boxes. We then put up the nest boxes in our local area to promote the conversation of breeding birds and wildlife. Garden songbirds can struggle to find suitable nesting holes and cavities if there are a lack of mature trees in the area.
We all had a great time and can’t wait to see more birds in our garden.
