Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Painting trees

We do enjoy the mornings where we listen to Pan Pipe music playing in the back ground and happily paint our wooden trees and hearts.  Music and painting suits all abilities and it is very beneficial  for anyone that just needs a relaxing activity.

Sand art

Sand Art is a lovely simple activity that is just so relaxing.   We spent a lovely morning listening to a birdsong waterfall CD whilst spending quality time with each lady choosing colours and talking about sand in general.  Building sand castles with the children and grand-children and our family holidays.   Feeling the sand and choosing our favourite colours was just an amazing personal centred activity

Love is in the air

At Threshfield Court Care Centre love was in the air.  We had a lovely creative morning with our foam love heart stand up trees which we individually decorated.  It was a very simple but effective craft session which allowed all abilities to participate.  We had an  “Enya” CD playing in the back ground which just made a really relaxing morning

A jolly delight

At Threshfield Court we love using our “Jolly Trolley”.   When its cold outside we can ignite our room with the arrival of our Jolly Trolley.  It looks like we are providing an ice cream, but we are not.  The interest that the Jolly Trolley creates is amazing and there really is something for everyone to enjoy.  It is fully transportable and such a useful piece of equipment

A four legged friend pays a visit

At Threshfield Court Care Centre we had a wonderful visitor today.  Connie the golden Labrador came for doggy day care which our residents absolutely loved.   She is a really friendly quiet dog who adores people, cuddles and playing with a ball.  Connie visited residents in their rooms and played with her favourite toy in the communal areas.  Dogs are amazing at entertaining and just being there to comfort.  Connie was even taken out for a walk and played on our lawn with her tennis ball

Gingerbread House Day

At Threshfield Court Care Home, we were playing our Christmas Songs and drinking  Bristol Cream sherry whilst other residents enjoyed creating a Gingerbread House.  Surprisingly, the house stayed stuck together and there were left over jelly sweets which we enjoyed.  It was all part of our quality control procedure.  Our next project will be decorating our Christmas Cakes in time for the big day.
