Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home
Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home
Blooming Haus
We were delighted to join Blooming Haus’s Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass, where Master Florist, Michal and his business partner - Michael showed us the best method to create beautiful festive wreaths.
Following the tips and ideas learnt during the amazing virtual experience, we were happy to put our skills to a test and to enter the #BarchesterChristmasWreaths competition.
We all had a wonderful time creating our festive wreath/s.
Thank you @bloominghaus for helping our residents flow into the true spirit of Noel.
Trip to Hubberholme Church
It was a dull and dreary day in Threshfield when we set out on our mini bus trip. We decided to meander up through Upper Wharfedale visiting, Kilnsey, Arncliffe, Kettlewell, Starbotton and Buckden. Our final destination was the famous Hubberholme Church to have a look at the Poppy display. The display has red, purple and white hand crocheted poppies which were just amazing and thought provoking. Interesting, they provided a summary sheet explaining the importance of the both the purple and white poppies.
The purple poppy was first conceived in 2006 to remember the animal victims of war who did not give their lives, their loves were taken. The white poppies were developed in 1933 by the Co-operative Women’s Guild to affirm the message ”No more war”. Our traditional red poppy is the symbol of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future”. We try to make our minibus trips out as interesting and informative as possible. Obviously, a cup of tea and a biscuit was enjoyed by all”.
Home celebrates refurbishment
Threshfield Court in Threshfield, Skipton has a brand new look and feel following significant investment from owners, Barchester Healthcare. The ground floor of the home has been transformed with a smart new café, beauty and hairdressing salon and a brand new reception area. Both of the home’s lounges on the ground floor and the dining area have been completely refurbished with new flooring, furniture and décor. Mr P the miniature pony pays a visit
At Threshfield Court we had a very special visitor, “Mr P”, who came to visit. But, he was the four legged miniature kind that doesn’t talk!. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed chatting, stroking and watching Mr P as he spent time with our residents. He was exceptionally well trained and even went in our lifts to enable him to do room visits. Mr P had a light refreshment tea break half way through and was rewarded with a lovely juicy carrot at the end. Mr P’s friend will be coming to visit us between Christmas and New Year 2021”.
Jolly trolley dancing
Residents at Threshfield Court love music and when the homes jolly trolley is around, residents are soon up on their feet dancing and singing along to their favourite songs. The jolly trolley is a firm fixture on the homes varied life enrichment programme as brings so much joy and fun to all.
English National Ballet
We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.
ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.
Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.
