Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Residents take to the high seas

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.

Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.

Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.

Creative writing with Mike Gayle

We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.

We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.

A Host at Threshfield Court Care Centre has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.

World Heart Day

We celebrated World Heart Day by hosting exercise classes in all our areas.  We were able to use a combination of ribbons and maracas to move and dance to a selection of music by ABBA.  The morning was really enjoyable and did get our hearts racing.

Wine not? Residents join virtual tasting

We had a lovely time joining Hospitality Manager, Christophe Noel and special guests Lee Isaacs DipWSET and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits – as they introduced us to wine tasting techniques, the history of wine and wine making, as well as consumer attitudes.

Our residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines from sparkling and white to rose and red, alongside a selection of delicious treats.

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

Floral displays

Flower arranging is a group activity our residents all enjoy as they share their creative flair for colour and design as they fill the vases for our dining room.  Conversations flow as everyone discusses their favourite flowers, plants and flowers grown in their gardens to favourite colours and scents.  Once the floral displays are firmly in place everyone sits back to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of home-made cake.
