Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home

Trip to Bardon Moor

On a beautiful sunny morning we took our ladies from the Kilnsey community to the Barden Moor Estate.  We sat and enjoyed tea, coffee and biscuits whilst admiring the lovely view.

Poppy installation

The 2014 Tower of London Art Installation where 888,246 ceramic poppies were planted at the Tower of London’s Moat provided us with the inspiration to create our own at Threshfield Court Care Centre.  We are busy preparing the painted poppies and attaching them to a green netting.  Upon completion, it will be displayed on Kilnsey Unit ready for Remembrance Sunday.

Pumpkin crafts

At Threshfield Court Care Centre we enjoyed designing and creating our Halloween Pumpkins and chatting about what we enjoyed as children, parents and grand- parents on “Old Souls Night”.    We made it slightly competitive as we held a competition for the “Best Carved Pumpkin”, the winners received a tub of celebrations.  As there was quite a bit of scooping and carving, as an alternative our residents were provided with an Arts and Crafts project which was fun and colourful

Residents enjoy cookery demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Halloween-inspired virtual cooking demo.

Alex demonstrated how to prepare a few themed dishes, such as root vegetable tagine, roasted butternut squash mac-n-cheese, chocolate pots with piped biscuits and flapjacks.

Our residents were delighted to be a part of this lovely virtual culinary session by tasting the vegetarian dishes from the comfort of our home.

A trip to Kettlewell

We have had a lovely ride out this morning on our minibus.  We drove through Kettlewell and up as far as Hubberholme..  We stopped in Buckden for a brew and admired the scenery.

Double chocolate delight

It may be a wet autumnal day outside, residents of Threshfield Court enjoyed a taste busting morning by whipping up some double chocolate muffins in a spur of the moment cookery session.  Whilst they were in the oven baking residents shared their favourite recipes and memories of cooking with their parents in their childhood.  Once baked everyone settled back to taste with a warming cup of Yorkshire Tea.  What a perfect way to spend the day!
