Activities at White Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Tor theatre present "the time machine" an hilarious, family friendly mash up of the vintage science fiction stories of HG Wells. The residents enjoyed the show a lot followed by tea and cakes. Enjoying the sunshine to the fullest
The sun definitely has its hat on today and our residents enjoyed soaking it up. Here at white lodge we are very lucky to have such wonderful grounds to walk around.
Our residents enjoyed walking in the fresh air and seeing all the beautiful wildlife and animals that surround us. They couldn't stop themselves from picking apples from the apple tree! There were smiles all round. What are sunny days for.
Marbles in a Jar
Residents and staff at white lodge participated in a game called "guess how many marbles are in the jar".
It was not only fun guessing the number but also touching the marble took our residents back to their childhood. One of the residents Joyce shared her memories how she used to play with marbles by making holes in the ground! She also thanked us for arranging the game as she loves the sound of marble.
In the jar there were 158 marbles. The winner, Barbara has guessed the nearest and she said it is 157 marbles! Pretty close isn't it? Barbara said she is absolutely thrilled by the fact that she nearly guessed it right and she is so happy to win a lovely gift set for herself.
Celebrating India Day
Today we celebrated Indian day at white lodge with special menu of Indian cuisine including chicken curry and pilau rice for lunch and samosa, chicken pakora, chicken curry bites, onion bhaji, papadam, kheer, semolina, Indian shortbread and masala tea for afternoon tea!
Our kitchen has done wonderful job with the food, they were absolutely amazing and our residents thanked the chef personally. The activity department has done a great job with the decoration to introduce Indian culture to the residents.
Making Caterpillars with Pom Poms

Crafting is always fun! Crafting is a great way to help you cope with our depression and reduce our anxiety as it keeps our mind busy and enables us to focus on the task at hand. Crafting increases dopamine levels in our brain, it can make us feel happier, which can have a positive impact on our everyday life.
The residents loved the end result so much that they made one of each and said they want to keep these to themselves!!!
