Activities at White Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Shayla Sharmeen
Hi my name is Shayla and I'm the activities coordinator here at White Lodge.
Prior to taking the position, I joined White Lodge as care assistant in 2022 and loved every minute of my role. My passion is very much in supporting the day to day lives of the people we care for, it is important to me that our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining White Lodge that will make for an enriched activities program to be developed, one that keeps them at the heart of the local community. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at White Lodge Care Home

Elf Day
We celebrated elf day at white lodge when li'l elves from Longleaz primary school visited us.
We prepared a fun game for the children involving the residents. We hide badges saying "Santa's little helper" in residents room and the activity team helped the children through the corridor to find the badges. They asked a magic question "do you have anything for me please?" And the residents handed over the badge to the little helper. Santa's little helpers sang jingle Bell as well for the residents. How lovely is that?!
After the badge hunting, we sat down in the lounge and enjoyed cup cupcakes and mince pieces together and sang some all-time Christmas songs.

Attending a Christmas Concert
The residents went to attend Christmas concert by North Swindon band, organised by celebrating age Wiltshire.
One of our residents Ruth found her neighbour on the crowd! Another resident, Kathie found her friend and her milk lady! Kathie went around the whole hall meeting people and introducing herself as she used to work at RWB memorial hall every Sunday morning. It was an amazing afternoon, singing all the Christmas songs together.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Its beginning to feel like Christmas at white lodge! The residents decorated the Christmas tree which they will donate to St Mary's Church, Purton later this afternoon. Then we decorated the windows with lots of snow, snow man, reindeers, sleigh and Santa of course! While doing the decorations one of our residents Kathie T. said, "it feels like home!"

Christmas Party at Millennium Hall
The activity team went out with our residents to celebrate Christmas Party at Millennium hall. Thanks to Purton & District Age Concern for inviting us for such a well organised party…! Couldn’t be better start to Christmas countdown…than this..!!!
Some beautiful memories captured from today’s party..!

Celebrating Birthdays
In the last few weeks White Lodge celebrated quite a few birthdays. The staff try make the day special for the residents by decorating their room and also by arranging an afternoon birthday party where we invite the other residents to come and join. Of course our talented chef makes freshly baked cake for the birthday girl/boy to make their day more special!

Visit from Swindon Veteran Group
The residents had a special visit from Swindon veteran group who spent the afternoon with us sharing their amazing stories. They shared their photos, medals, publication along with cream tea to celebrate the armistice day! Our residents invited them to come again next month and the veterans promised to come and visit them on Christmas.
