Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

National Picnic Week

The staff, residents and their relatives celebrated national picnic week with hawaiian themed picnic at white lodge care home with a bang!

We decorated the gazebo with colourful bunting, coconut tree lights, tropical hanging swirls, paper pineapple, grass table skirt and rattan garden furniture.

Our photo booth was decorated with beach party backdrop and inflatable palm tree to take memorable pictures with friends and family. There were tropic garlands and hats to wear to go with the tropical look!

Our tikki bar and snack shack was full with delicious buffet and drink prepared by our talented chef Richard. He made cocktails, fruit skewers, donuts, sandwiches, quiche, mini sausages and so on!

Thanks ro Chez's ice cream van to come as our residents enjoyed soft cone a lot. As you can see in the pictures, our staff enjoyed some ice cream too!

Special thanks to Nick from mini concert to entertain our residents with some mesmerising summer songs. One of the residents Maggie said, "I have a special memory about this song and it made me really emotional."

Dementia Choir and Cafe

Residents at white lodge took a ride to Royal Wotton Bassett to attend the dementia choir and cafe organised by Lisa William.

We really the welcome song we sang to introduce ourselves and then we practiced some new songs. One of our residents said "I used to sing this song (she will be coming around the mountains) with my mom" while we were practicing.

Music can help them to express their feelings and ideas, verbally and non-verbally, act as a prompt for reminiscing.

Fathers Day

This afternoon after having Father’s day special sing a long and afternoon tea, we sat together and talked about our Dads. We thought it would be nice to ask some of the other residents to share some beautiful memories of their Dads who are no longer with them. Even some of the residents family and staff joined in with memories of theirs Dads.

We all had an amazing time telling our own stories. One of our residents Molly said “ i got emotional writing about him because he died in a plane crash but thank you for listening to me. I talked about him after a long time”

Some of them told us funny stories, some were emotional, some were inspiring, tell us which one you liked!!!

Weekly Exercise Class

Participation in regular physical activity can increase our self-esteem and can reduce stress and anxiety. That's why here at white lodge we offer gentle exercise sessions every week to keep our residents active. Exercise helps keep our muscles, joints, and heart in good shape. It also helps the residents stay at a healthy weight and have regular sleep habits. Also exercising together make it more fun. Today we tried new props to turn the exercise session more interesting and fun!

Strolling in the Garden

Residents at white lodge had a lovely afternoon taking a stroll in the garden followed by afternoon tea and biscuits. They had a lovely time chatting and laughing on silly jokes. They were busy with harvesting strawberries and nurturing their black sunflower plants. Our residents make sure to check them every day and water them regularly as they are eagerly waiting for the plants to grow bigger and ready to be transferred to the courtyard!
