Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Pampering Session

Residents at white lodge had a lovely Sunday morning with Shayla, our activity assistant who had a nice table set up for the pamper session with calm & relaxing music on the background.

Residents enjoyed having their nails done followed by hand massage and relaxed with a nice hot cuppa!

The session not only did beautification but also increased self-esteem and confidence. Also helped in reducing distress and anxiety.

Menatl Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is taking place from today 15th till 21st May. This year's theme is anxiety and how it can get out of control and become a mental health problem. What could be more relaxing than gardening and reduce anxiety? Our residents got their hands on to plant black sunflower seed in the pot and named each of the pot after them. They will nurture them every day and observe the magic of nature. They also helped us making the hanging basket to hang around the home. Our hanging baskets will look lovely when they've grown a bit more.

Coronation Celebrations fit for a King!

Excitement was in the air at White Lodge where residents and staff were busy making Coronation-themed decorations in preparation for the King’s Coronation on May 6.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King. Over the bank holiday weekend the home held what should have been a garden party but due to the wet weather we had to move our celebrations inside. We still had our BBQ under a gazebo so our residents and their families could enjoy the food, we also had sandwiches which of course included Coronation chicken and for dessert we had mini Victoria sponges and scones with clotted cream and jam and not forgetting our Pimms station complete with a tower of glasses. We were also joined by the D-Day Dollies who sang for us which everyone really enjoyed, singing along to the songs and dancing. The whole home came together to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering. A truly wonderful day was had by residents and their families.
