Activities at Wilton Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Sparkling Special Times

Lighting up time got a whole new meaning at Wilton Place as residents and staff came together to see the Christmas lights being switched in the garden. There was mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies to keep everyone warm along with some lovely carol singing. The Christmas tree and all the lights looked amazing when Antoinette, our home manager, flicked the switch for the big reveal. Antoinette said: “We absolutely love Christmas here at Wilton Place, it is such a special time and we all enjoy decorating the home and having a lovely big tree. I’d like to say a huge thank you to In-Excess, Salisbury Garden Centre who kindly donated the Christmas tree and a set of sparkly lights.”

Snakes, Shopping and Special Friends

Our latest jaunt out on the minibus was to visit Porton Garden, Aquatic and Pets. A favourite of our residents, they can visit the animals, enjoy some retail therapy and get a great coffee too. Anne went a a step further and made friends with the reptiles!

Sometimes it's the simple things........

Here at Wilton Place we strive to make our resident's wishes come true. On Tuesday a simple wish was granted as four of our residents took a trip out to Salisbury Market. Nicki, our Activities Assistant was chatting to Ron and discovered he missed his weekly trips to Salisbury Market. He reminisced about his market shopping days where he would buy his groceries and spend time chatting with the traders.So.......last Tuesday Ron and three of his friends boarded the home's minibus and set off for Salisbury City Centre. Berniece, Pat and Mike are not local to the area and were interested to see what all the fuss was about. They were delighted to discover Salisbury's Traditional Charter Market and were surprised to hear that it has run since 1227 and comprises 70 stalls! They thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect and Mike insisted on treating the group to coffees as they soaked up the atmosphere. On entering the market Ron's face lit up, he remarked; "such a feeling of nostalgia, I'm so happy and thankful for today".Nicki commented; "The stall holders were very friendly and chatty, it was such a positive experience and a very easy wish that was a pleasure to grant, seeing how much it meant to Ron was wonderful."
