Activities at Wilton Place Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Wilton Place Care Home

D-Day
The Wilton Place community had the pleasure of attending the D-Day 80 Commemoration Ceremony at The Guild on Sunday.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Entrain Space and Weavers Cafe for inviting us to commemorate D-Day with them in this way. The event was not only engaging but also meaningful. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and show our support.
Meanwhile at Wilton Place throughout the week we’ve been reminiscing. So many memories of war time to share with one another...........
One of our residents joined the RAF when she left school, she was 20 years old on D-Day. “I worked as a secretary for a Group Captain and was very happy. It was exciting, dancing in the mess and at local hotels. I married, and when I was expecting my first child I had to leave the RAF and I remember how sad I was handing back my uniform.
Another remembers going to the shelters when the siren went off but then got fed up and stayed in bed. “I remember sheltering with my mother and a policeman in a police box during one raid. My kitten, Sandy, ran up the oak tree during another raid and was stuck there all night. I remember wondering what it would be like to live in peace as being at war was all I knew.”

Gentleman's Club
A regular opportunity for our Gents to get together and put the world to rights over delicious snacks and their choice of tipple.
Activities in our home are tailored to our resident's wants and desires. We encourage continuing with hobbies and interests and discovering new ones!

Flower Crafts
Did you know.......Vesak is the most important of the Buddhist festivals and is celebrated on the full moon in May? The lotus flower is of great symbolic significance to the Buddhist faith and is commonly used during Vesak to help celebrate the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha.
Our residents enjoyed making their own lotus flowers in craft club and are really proud of the results. They've also enjoyed creating different representations of the forget-me-not, the small blue flower that represents remembrance and is long-associated with dementia.

Enjoying the Town Of Wilton
What do you do when your residents ask to visit Wilton to see the church and pop into Reeves the Baker? You hop on the minibus and go!
We were hosted by the lovely Sarah who told us about the fascinating history of Wilton Parish Church and showed us the beautiful diptych with its unusual blue paint.
The friendly staff at Reeve the Baker helped us to choose a tasty treat for the journey home.

Gardening Club
Our residents love to relax in our beautifully landscaped garden but they also love to muck in and help with our raised beds, bulb planting and veggie growing.
Come rain or shine they can be found enjoying the fresh air and swapping gardening tips.

Breakfast of Kings
We were delighted to host the Wilton Mens Shed for breakfast on Monday morning. It was an early start with a full English being the order of the day.
Head Chef was sizzling by 7.30am to create the breakfast fit for a king.
