Activities at The Wingfield Care Home

Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

Hawaiian Party!

An afternoon of flower garlands, music, Mocktails and lot’s more! Staff, resident’s and families had lots of fun dressing up and playing lots of different games. The Hospitality Team served delicious refreshments and people were able to grab drinks from our ‘Tiki Bar’. It was a great afternoon having everyone come together and having so many families and friends join us.

Culture Day!

This month we hosted the home’s first ever Culture Day Event, a day to celebrate and embrace all the different cultures within our home.  The residents enjoyed a morning of ‘around the world’ taste sessions and a quick quiz, followed by a party in our beautiful garden in the afternoon. Staff dressed up in traditional clothing and brought in food for everyone to sample. The resident’s thoroughly enjoyed tasting new food and learning more about different cultures.

Twit Twoo!

The home recently had visit from Wren’s Birds of Prey for an afternoon of avian amusement. The residents thoroughly enjoyed getting to know their new feathery friends, being able to hold and interact with the birds and learn lots of different interesting facts about them. We were welcomed by family and friends for the much anticipated event and it was lovely to bring all three units together for the afternoon.

Senior Games

We are very lucky to be joined by Jessica every Thursday morning for light exercise, games and musical fun! The sessions have been a big success so far with lots of our residents. This project has been organised and offered to us by Wiltshire Council  and aims to promote active living, wellbeing and quality of life amongst older people.

String Quartet

The residents recently enjoyed an afternoon with Diana and her String Quartet ‘Stringbeanz’. Again, this event was much anticipated with our residents and the performance proved it was well worth the wait! They played 70’s TV Theme Tunes, Elvis, Mammia Mia and lots more. Everyone enjoyed playing ‘guess the tune’ and singing along to those they knew. We already can’t wait for the Stringbeanz to visit again!

The Wingfield goes back to the 1940’s

Ahead of the D-Day 80th Anniversary this year we decided to take a step back in time and hosted a 1940’s themed day at the home. The home was decorated to fit the theme, the chef prepared a delicious but authentic lunch and staff dressed for the occasion to really give the day that authentic feel. In the afternoon we hosted a tea party with a special performance from the D-Day Dollies, everyone thoroughly enjoyed dancing and singing along. The day sparked fond memories for so many and it was lovely to be able to bring the whole home together as our residents reminisced on the past.
