Activities at The Wingfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Senior Games Festival
We are extremely proud of our residents that took part in this year’s Senior Games Festival at Clarendon Academy.
Senior Games sessions feature the British Gymnastics Foundation’s ‘Love to Move’ programme, designed by experts to enhance cognitive function. The 12 week programme culminates in a Senior Games Festival, where all participating local care homes come together for an afternoon of fun and healthy competition!
It’s something the residents had been looking forward to for a long time, since our weekly sessions with the lovely Jessica came to an end.
Although we didn’t take the trophy this year, the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves and proudly showed off their medals back at the home.
Knitted Goods for New Arrivals
Margaret one of our lovely ladies at the home has been busy knitting beautiful baby hats. Recently, we arranged for Margaret to donate these hats to Bath Royal United Hospital. Margaret donated a selection of hats to both Mary Ward on Maternity and also the Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care (NICU), both of which were extremely grateful. Margaret previously worked as a Nursery Nurse at Queen Charlotte’s in London and helped care for the premature babies there so this was particularly important to her. Everyone at the home is extremely proud of Margaret’s efforts and were thrilled to be able to accompany her on such a meaningful trip.
D’artagnan’s Debut Performance
Here at Wingfield. the residents recently enjoyed an afternoon with the fabulous D’artagnan!
Something a little different this time, with D’artagnan performing acoustic pop, reggae, soul and little rock & roll for everyone.
We were joined by family and friends and everyone had a great time!
There was lots of dancing and singing a long and the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We look forward to having D’artagnan visit us again very soon.
Autumn Crafting
As we’ve welcomed the new season in and it’s started getting colder outside, we’ve took to staying in more and doing some crafting to keep us busy.
The residents recently enjoyed making Autumn wreaths, decorating wooden lanterns and creating some beautiful bowls using leaves and air dry clay which you can now see proudly displayed around our home.
Long Service Award
Petya, one of our lovely Hostesses at the Lodge recently celebrated ten whole years of service within Barchester Healthcare.
Ansitha, our General Manager at The Wingfield said "Petya is a key member of the team at the home and both the residents at the Lodge and their families are very fond of her. Petya is always so cheerful and goes out of her way to ensure everyone always feels comfortable and welcome in our home. We are very lucky and proud to have Petya on our team at The Wingfield Care Home".
Kiddley Divey
The residents were recently treated to a little trip around the world, right from the comfort of their armchair. Kiddley Divey joined us for the afternoon and played a variety of music from lots of different countries. The residents thoroughly enjoyed getting into the spirit of things, learning the different traditional dances and playing instruments to the tunes.
Kiddley Divey provide fun-filled, lively and imaginative classes to care homes. The session include lots of familiar songs from chosen eras of different times that inherent in their ability to stimulate memories, minds and bodies. The sessions also involve the use of sensory props, our residents particularly enjoyed the bubbles and waving of our national flag as we touched back down in the UK at the end of our world tour.
