Activities at The Wingfield Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

Adorable Alpacas Visit Our Home

Our Residents had some very special visitors- two adorable Alpacas named Len Black and Anton Brown, both from a local Alpaca Adventures company.

Alpacas' gentle nature sparked smiles and comfort throughout the home. Residents loved being able to stroke fluffy Alpacas and learnt lots of interesting facts about them from their owner Wendy who was happy to provide her assistance.

Len Black and Anton Brown were on their best behaviour when they went around our home and even visited residents in their bedrooms. There was lots of laughter as the Alpacas were trying to give kisses to some of the Residents!

This was such an amazing visit for everyone, but especially our Residents with dementia. The soothing presence of the animals improved their mood and engagement and we can't wait for Alpacas next visit.

Trip to the Grotto

A trip to our local Christmas Grotto was on our To-Do List for this month and so off we went to Whitehall Garden Centre to explore the magical Christmas Grotto.

It was filled with holiday decorations and sparkling lights. The visit brought so many warm memories as we admired the festive displays.

Afterwards, we relaxed together with a hot chocolate and slices of cake, reminiscing about Christmas from our childhood and sharing joyful moments to kick off the holiday spirit.

Christmas Party

We had an unforgettable time at the recent Christmas party! The event was filled with joy and laughter as everyone joined in singing and dancing to festive songs performed by Jessica Fay Long, while admiring the creative fancy dress costumes.

Relatives and friends added to the festive spirit, making it a heart-warming celebration.

Plus, we enjoyed a delicious buffet prepared by our talented Chef Scott. The smiles and shared moments made this a truly special day for all involved.

Christmas Festive Time

Residents at Wingfield fully embraced the festive season!

We decorated Christmas cakes with colourful icing and festive designs, filling the air with cheer. We also had a special musical performance by Gregory and children from the local nursery brought smiles and holiday spirit, while Christmas-themed games fostered laughter and camaraderie.

A visit to the Bath Christmas Market added to the excitement, with its twinkling lights, handmade gifts, and seasonal treats making the celebrations truly magical.

Donkey Therapy

Animal Therapy Sessions are always a big hit at the home but recently we enjoyed an extra special one when Charlie the donkey visited.

Accompanied by his handler from Kelly’s Donkeys, Charlie brought festive joy to all as he trotted around the home in his personalised Christmas outfit and hat.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed being able to stroke Charlie and feed him treats, with many reminiscing on experiences they’ve had with donkeys in their younger years.

REME Museum Bus Trip

Some of our residents recently enjoyed a trip to the award-winning military museum in Lyneham.

The REME Museum shares the story of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers through eight large galleries exhibiting historic equipment, artefacts and archival material.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed having a look at the different displays and were amazed by the sheer size of the tanks in person. They also had great fun dressing up and interacting with all the interactive facilities on offer at the museum.
