Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
Special Celebrations!
Although we had fun on St Patrick's day we were also celebrated a very special day for one of our resident's, Joseph. We celebrated 18 YEARS! since Joseph had his heart transplant, he is breaking all records.
Let's give poetry a go!
This month at Wood Grange we enjoyed learning about Poetry and had great fun with the Oomph let's give poetry a go! Two of our residents, Sheila and Ruth had a go at writing their very own short Sonnet for you to enjoy;
Today is Monday with spring in the air,
Sitting together enjoying our tea at the Wood Grange cafe,
After a night spent at the fun fair,
Sheila decided she would prefer a latte.
Flower Arranging
To celebrate International Flower Day, we spent the morning flower arranging and creating our own beautiful bouquets of flowers to display in the home. It was lots of fun and some of our residents definitely have an eye for flower arranging!
Creating Art with Nature
We love getting creative here at the home and we recently spent the morning doing just that! We created some wonderful pieces of art using a mixture of different coloured leaves from the garden, to create an autumn/winter display for the home. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we are looking forward to using nature to create art again soon.
Bear the Dog
Residents and staff at Wood Grange were thrilled to have a furry little visitor to the home recently. 'Bear' the Dog spent the morning being stroked and pampered by a number of our residents who were all keen to give him a cuddle. Bear was so fluffy and friendly and we can't wait to have him back into the home again soon.
Chef of the Year
Radovan Smalo has beaten all the competition to be crowned Chef of the Year in the Barchester Care Awards 2021.

Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
