Activities at Wood Grange Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Ruby-Mae Walker
Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.
My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.
I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Life at Wood Grange Care Home
Easter at Wood Grange
There was lots happening throughout Easter here at Wood Grange!
Residents, loved ones and staff members made lots of cake for Barchester's Easter Cake Competition, and we were joined by our little friends from Busy Bees Nursery, who came in to make Easter cereal with residents. Everyone had a lovely, but messy time doing this.
We also invited some children of Bourne in to hunt for eggs. We hid over 150 for the kids to find in the garden, as it was such a lovely day.
Finally, we were joined by ladies from the local community, who designed some beautiful flower arrangements for the occasion.
It was a wonderful Easter for everyone!
Clearer Productions
Clearer Productions singers, Nikki and Neil, visited our home to put on a wonderful performance for residents. It was lots of fun and we can't wait to have them back!
Valentine's Day
We hosted a competition in recognition of Valentine's Day to see who could design the best card. There were lots of entrants and the judges (John & Martin) said that it was a very tough decision for them, as all the cards were fantastic.
Fancy Dress Tea party
it’s always fun on our Memory Lane community, as you can see, with staff members all dressed up ready for their 1940s-themed afternoon tea. Victoria sandwiches and scones made by the staff and residents were a big hit with everyone.
90th Birthday Celebrations
Joy celebrating her 90th birthday with staff and other residents. She commented that she had never felt so important and would remember this day for ever.
Reminiscence with Lynn
This activity was a great hit with both the ladies & gentlemen, bringing back many memories of the good ol' days. She brought along items on the subject she was going to talk about, including the old Terry Nappies, which stirred a lot of interest on how we used to put them on our babies, and as you can see from the photo, she also dresses up to fit in with the topic.
