Activities at Wykeham House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rachel Stevens
I joined Wykeham House in October 2022 but I have worked doing activities in care homes since I left College, I began volunteering in a local home when I was 15 years old and then took on my first job in a care home when I was 18. I have enjoyed extending my knowledge to improve my work and have a Level 2 in Dementia Awareness, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Mental Health Awareness. I have also attended courses on End-Of-Life Activities as well as Dementia focused Activities. I love what I do and for me it is important that every day is a new day for our residents with new opportunities and a smiling face to come with it.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Wykeham House Care Home

Crafty Cacti
Today residents enjoyed the sunshine and joined the craft session on our lovely terrace. Lead by Shannon from the lifestyle team, we painting stones to look like cacti. They looked absolutely fabulous, can you tell the difference? And no chance these won’t get enough water

A pint down the pub.
Residents from Wykeham House popped to their local pub, the Jack Fairman and enjoyed a drink in the pub garden. There is always something to celebrate, the sun shining is always a good reason.
Cheers!

Cocktails and Jazz Afternoon
Residents and the Community came together for an afternoon of Cocktails and Jazz in the garden. We opened our new garden bar and with the help of volunteers served up some delicious cocktails. The group enjoyed a wonderful performance from Michael Lack. The weather may not have been on our side but we are British after all and a little rain didn't dim our day.

Residents Prepare to Party
This summer we are having a Notting hill Carnival Themed Summer Bash. Earlier this month residents started preparing for the event by making decorations that will go out in the garden on the day. Residents at Wykeham House gathered together to create these hanging wreaths which we will complete with paper flowers at a later date! We listened to some Frank Sinatra classics whilst crafting away.

Ron's 92nd Birthday
Ron celebrates his 92nd birthday with his wife Shirley and his family! Wykeham House put on an afternoon tea so Ron and his wife could celebrate with their family. They enjoyed a selection of sandwiches and cakes prepared by the activities team in our newly renovated Memory Lane Garden.

Arlington Bluebell Walk
Residents enjoyed a fabulous day Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm Trail. The wonderful woodland is wheelchair accessible and we took the blue route around the woodland before stopping for tea in the barn and visiting the lambs and goats!
