Activities at Wykeham House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rachel Stevens
I joined Wykeham House in October 2022 but I have worked doing activities in care homes since I left College, I began volunteering in a local home when I was 15 years old and then took on my first job in a care home when I was 18. I have enjoyed extending my knowledge to improve my work and have a Level 2 in Dementia Awareness, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Mental Health Awareness. I have also attended courses on End-Of-Life Activities as well as Dementia focused Activities. I love what I do and for me it is important that every day is a new day for our residents with new opportunities and a smiling face to come with it.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Wykeham House Care Home

Memory Boxes
At Wykeham House we encourage our residents to reflect and participate in activities that they used to enjoy before coming into a care home. Residents on our Memory Lane unit each get a Memory Box personalised to them to help them continue to participate in their usual activities.

Worthing Beach Trip
The Activities Team are putting on some very exciting trips for our residents including some trips to Worthing Beach which kicked off this week with Sigrid who had not seen the sea for over three years! Residents are able to get so close to the sea at this wheelchair accessible beach so it is a lovely chance for them to experience the beach as they would have for many years.

Tilgate Park Trip
Residents have been enjoying our recent outings to Tilgate Park Nature Reserve where they get the opportunity to see a variety of animals and birds. Residents then get to enjoy a picnic prepared by our kitchen team.

Sports Day
Residents at Wykeham House were joined by Brownies, Rainbows and friends and family for our recent Community Sports Day! We hosted wheelchair egg and spoon races, a three-legged race and a sack race and residents enjoyed a buffet prepared by our kitchen along with a variety of games to keep them active.

Let The Sun Shine
Residents have been enjoying the sunshine here at Wykeham House. We have encouraged our entertainers to perform outside. Residents have been sitting outside everyday even celebrating birthdays with friends in the sunshine.

Bill surprises his Granddaughter on her Wedding Day
Here at Wykeham House we make the "impossible", possible. Bill and his family didn't think he would be able to attend his granddaughter Melissa's wedding. Shannon our activities assistant thought we could make this possible and she did. On 10th June 2023 when Melissa walked down the aisle she not only had her husband waiting at the other end but also her grandad. A truly special occasion.
