Activities at Appletree Grange Care Home

Our Activities Coordinator is constantly arranging new activities to stimulate and catch the imagination of our residents. From visiting entertainers to a regular craft table to outings on the minibus, there is always something for our residents to keep them entertained. Our Activities Coordinator also takes the time to sit with each resident and go through a life history so they get to know what the likes and dislikes of each individual are and can tailor the activities to suit them. A monthly residents meeting is held to get the views of the residents and to get suggestions from them and their families about what they would like to do and everything that can be done to accommodate their requests is done.

Christina Curtis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Christina and I am the activities coordinator here at Appletree Grange. I joined both Barchester and the home in July 2024. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we will work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Resident of the Day

Did you know that each day we nominate someone to be our Resident of the Day and in doing so try our very best to grant a wish of theirs. Both Carol and Barry wished they could have a look around Dobbie’s, our local garden centre and cafe, So we decided to take advantage of the weather and did exactly that. Barry said: "It's been great to be out and about in the fresh air I have thoroughly enjoyed my trip out."

Arts and Crafts

Today at Appletree Grange we put our Art skills to the test and created some hyacinths using cotton buds, I'm sure you will agree they are ' blooming ' lovely

Mama Mia! move over Papa Jo!

We thought we'd try our hand at making Pizza and amongst the laughter we managed to produce some very tasty ones indeed. The residents here at Appletree Grange love to partake in activities that involve making their own food as it brings back fond memories of cooking and baking for their own families.

Creating Flower Art

Well there's one thing for certain here at Appletree Grange there's no such thing as a 'Blue Monday'

A Trip Down Memory Lane

We took a trip down memory lane this afternoon as we welcomed our guest speaker Andrew Clark who came to show us memorabilia from the 40's and 50's.

Who knew that everyday objects from years gone by could revoke such precious stories of memories of our younger days?

Our residents loved seeing the items close up and we certainly did have a good old chuckle trying some of them out

Historic Royal Palaces

Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
