Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rita Green

As the Community Engagement Lead and Lifestyle Coordinator, I will be spending time with each resident and their loved ones to build a detailed picture of each individual, so that each person’s stay with us is as meaningful as possible.  Although I have been working within this field for many years, thanks to the uniqueness of each resident, I am always enjoying new experiences in my role. My goal is to create an activities programme that caters to the capabilities of residents, including, but not limited to, individual and group activity.

I've spent the past few years forging strong relationships within the community and developing a pool of talented individuals that can support our in-house team to bring out the best in those we care for.

As we never stop growing and changing, it is important that we maintain an up-to-date Getting To Know Me booklet. With your help, the activities scheduled for your loved ones will be as relevant and enjoyable as possible.
I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

School Harvest Celebration

Our residents had a wonderful visit to Coopersale & Theydon Garnon Primary School today!

The children gave our residents a warm welcome and surprised them with a lovely hamper of sweets. It was a heart-warming day filled with smiles, laughter and great conversations between generations.

A huge thank you to the students and staff for their hospitality!

A Special Afternoon at Ashlar House

Here at Ashlar House, we were delighted to welcome members of the Town Council for a lovely afternoon tea with our residents! One of our residents, who previously worked for the council, had the chance to reconnect and share fond memories over delicious scones and treats.

It was a heart-warming afternoon filled with great conversation, laughter and special moments. A special big thank you to the council members for making this event a truly memorable one!

We love bringing our community closer together and creating wonderful experiences for our residents and they love it too!

Silver Sunday

Th residents at Ashlar House put on a smashing performance for Silver Sunday and it was a true celebration!

As part of this national day, dedicated to honouring older adults, supported by Age UK, Robert's hour-long show brought the crowd a wave of joy and nostalgia.

With a selection of jukebox classics spanning three decades, Rob transported everyone back through time, filling the room with smiles and fond memories. Silver Sunday encourages communities to connect with and celebrate older generations, and Robert's vibrant performance made this year’s event particularly memorable!

Singing Angels

Ashlar’s house very own singing angels went to St John’s church in Epping for songs of prayers. The residents had warmed their voices up ready to sing from the top of their lungs .

We all sung in harmony to the songs that were pre picked, and one special request by our very own Rita was 'All things bright and beautiful'.

Afterwards, we had light refreshments and cake kindly made by the Epping community who are part of the 'For-get me Knots'.

Residents from another care home Weald Hall were amongst the singers,  we all had a nice chat and made more friends.
