Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rita Green

As the Community Engagement Lead and Lifestyle Coordinator, I will be spending time with each resident and their loved ones to build a detailed picture of each individual, so that each person’s stay with us is as meaningful as possible.  Although I have been working within this field for many years, thanks to the uniqueness of each resident, I am always enjoying new experiences in my role. My goal is to create an activities programme that caters to the capabilities of residents, including, but not limited to, individual and group activity.

I've spent the past few years forging strong relationships within the community and developing a pool of talented individuals that can support our in-house team to bring out the best in those we care for.

As we never stop growing and changing, it is important that we maintain an up-to-date Getting To Know Me booklet. With your help, the activities scheduled for your loved ones will be as relevant and enjoyable as possible.
I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

National Read a Book Day

Today we were very happy to celebrate National Read a Book Day, as we all share a passion for reading.

In recognition of the day, our residents spent the morning with our little friends from Bright Horizon Nursery talking about their favourite books, and took part in a variety of creative sessions.

In the afternoon residents relocated to the quite lounge reading their book some talk about their favourite authors and why.

We had a fantastic time.

The Doors of History has finally re-opened again from the Epping history museum.

The Doors of History has finally re-opened again from the Epping history museum after 3 Years being closed.

The sun was out if full and many visitors came from far including residents from Ashlar House who wanted to be part of the special day.
Reading about the history of the war seeing the uniforms and parts recovered from planes ✈️ that crashed or found afterwards in the ground.
Christmas gifts in tins including cigarettes 🚬 which were 100 years old.

Afterwards we had time to reflect over a hot cup of tea and snacks .
Our journey then took the residents to Epping Ongar railway station where we boarded the train which took us from north Weald to Epping then Epping to Ongar and home again the residents got to wave out the window to passers by as the train pulled away.

It was a great day out smiles all around.

The day was set, morning free play in one of our gardens. Afternoon music of health with Anastasia who delivered a bespoke theme for our second set of children from Bright Horizon Nursery who were sad to go back to school.

Don’t worry our little friends we have more to do in a few weeks’ time.
